Crystal shard gets immense damage bonuses due to a bug as far as I know, the wrench doesn't.
I did a quick search on the threads, and they suggested the bug was only present with overhead swing. The shard seems powerful to me because it gets bonuses from both strength and for exotic skill, whereas the wrench seems only to get it for strength and the laser rapier for energy only. (of course, I haven't tested this, it's just what it seems like)
Yes, I started anothe run through, this time as an energy/heavy character. Have spent masses on getting enough into heavy to finally get the TC fusion cannon, but it really isn't good enough. It takes multiple shots to take down a rumbler even on "death" setting. I think I'd be better off with the energy pistols, 2 of them, on overpowered shots like Aristed suggested,

That was my favourite power too. Neural restructuring I think. Although in Multiplayer D'Arcy used to kill all my new friends
Then again if he didn't they usually ended up killing me when their "mood" changed...
Multiplayer sounds like fun. Won't try it soon though, don't have the net at home.
See you all.

I think the wrench gets damage bonuses from both strength and standard. :erm:

Aw come on, the damage bonus of the overhead swing is such a nice...feature. :(

I see you're being ironic... Just let me say that this "feature" clearly wasn't intended by the developers as the upgrade's additional damage gets calculated correctly for all other melee weapons. That's why I think it was a good idea by Nameless to make this fix a part of ADaoB.
If you don't like it just keep the ADaoB version 024 which is the same as 025 except for this minor update, and at the moment it can still be (

I was just joking ya know. ;) I always give new gameplay tweaks a chance.
