Just Bought System shock 2... - by Gjergj K.

By AP rounds, I meant armour-piercing rather than anti-personnel, of course. From memory, with standard 4 and a lvl-1 mod on a pistol, they go down very quickly.

Doesn't the AR do more damage even though it uses the same ammo type? Seems like a wise idea to spare the pistol mostly until you can use the AR. Even then I'd spare the anti-personnel & standard bullets for the BotM and maybe AP bullets for Shodan.

Well, I've mostly completed Ops by now. Finally saved up enough points to get to Standard 6 and can now use the assault rifle, and it kicks ass! Shame that I also now need to get maintenance up to 4 to actually maintain it. I've spent one french-Epstein device to modify it, but it's only level 1.
Anyway, I've killed the 3 red guys and taken their chips, but I can only find 2 of the sim units. I can't find the linear sim unit. There are two areas I can't get into- Ops override and Security (no key cards). have I missed something?
By the way, the battle between the loyal security forces and the many was engrossing. Especially Mallick's last log. Got to love the immersion.
Oh, and now I;ve got the rifle, I use it- but I don't have much ammo left.

Never mind on that last request guys- I did a search and found the answer on the forum So, all the ay back to engineering for me to pick up the missing access card, then I'll be able to finish ops.

AP rounds is what I've been using to target the assasins. With the AR,they go down in ~2 shots. They take about 4 wacks with the wrench before dying, which would be fine if they weren't so damn quick!

A reasonable, though tricky, strategy for dealing with the deck 4 assassins is to chase them with a melee weapon after you shoot up with a speed hypo. The three assassins on this deck will initially try and fall back to flee points, so you can generally get in a few wacks before they turn and face you. This is particularly effective coupled with adrenalin overproduction.
Don't have all that many speed hypos- I think I just need to bite the bullet and spend points on agility. And Psi, for psi agility. It's only level 1.

I found that the energy pistol was the be all and end all for the whole game, the assassins can be taken out with two or three overpowered shots. I carried two around, both with modified capacity and efficiency. That way I had enough ammo to take out pretty much anything.

Haven't really been using the energy pistol that much- too paranoid about running out of ammo and not finding enough rechargers. My main weapons are wrench>AR>shotgun.
Anyway, just completed level 5-
There was a bit of wasted time looking for the code for the transmitter, but otherwise relatively ok, once I was able to get my incendiary grenades onto the rumblers. Looks like there's a new contender for most effective many creature thing.
I don't recall taking out the assassins in less than 5 shots with Energy 6 and fully modified laser pistol. :erm:

If you use modified shots, the damage is a lot higher- 3 times or so, but the time between shots is very high. I guess if you had two pistols linked to hotkeys it couls work well. I haven't really used the modified shots options very much. Tried it with the pistol and shotgun and kept missing, and losing 3 bullets.
Anyway- command is almost done. Just have to go and meet with the captain to discuss my future.
By the way aristed, didn;t you have any trouble with the spiders etc? The researched items description say they're resistant to energy weapons.

Killing one adult arachnid with an energy weapon is gonna take a whole human lifetime.

Well, finished the game. Spent ages in the Rickenbacker until I upped my hack enough to disable the security systems. Tried to hack the turrets, then realised it was far, far easier to just blow the damn things up with otherwise unused disruption grenades. I ended up getting some decent Psi powers as well- inivisibility, strength, electron cascade, cyber affinity, some form of shield, and agility from memory. I was having awful trouble keeping my armour fully charged until I got electron, and kept dying. Kept using masses of healing and whatnot .
Didn't like the design of the Rickenbacker so much as the Von Braun. Felt more like a gym than a ship.
Was having awful trouble with the Body of the Many until I just put invisibility on and went through everything. Rumblers, throse floating Psi thingies all just ignored me until I started mashing their brains with my wrench and unloading my assault rifle into the many's brain. The ending seemed a bit silly- I would have thought the many could just grow a new brain, would have thought something like spraying the surface of Tau Ceti 5 with Toxin A would be required.
Finally met with lady S, and had a frank face to face discussion. Something of a silly ending, but oh well.
Oh well, all done, guess I'll try it again as something else, then try a few fan missions.
Thanks for your replies all.
