Sorry, I can't quite read that. Could you use a bigger font?

Yer, I'm still considering one of their 910 silencers. But I am looking at some alternatives - Silverstone DA1000 and Nexus RK-1K, these like the PcP&C are single rail power supplies. Both of these have RMA support based in the UK unlike OCZ (who own PcP&C).

I'm starting to wonder how OCZ became a popular brand in the first place, I keep hearing bad things about them. A friend got new RAM from them, one module was shot, another friend runs a small computer company and gives OCZ a wide berth, and now you've got this PSU.

I think with OCZ it may be quantity not quality... Ive had some of their memory go bad but that was 50% down to the motherboard I was using at the time which was nvidia 680i based(which is known for being picky about its memory). And the psu, well this was a bad egg across the board, loads of people have had them die, which is why I think ocz EOL'd (end of life) it early. But to counter all the bad vibes not all their products are bad, my 2yr old 600W GameXtreme psu is still going good and no one can beat Ocz for their 5yr power-swap warranty on Psu's or the sterling help they give on their support forum.

I see, so they do pull something off right.

BD: You surprised me with this purchase. For such a savvy individual to buy a 1000 watt PS. I'm surprised
I would have figured a PC Power and Cooling silencer 750 or one of the 860 models.
Then again, whom am I to talk. Several years ago I bought one. (1000) :erg:
Since then I've gone back to 750-860 area. I've had no troubles with my last build. A E8600 OCD to 4.0. Coolit Freezone Elite cooler, Six HDD. Two DVD Drives. X-fi card with breakout box. No SLI, just one 9800GTX OC video card. No problems what so ever.

Er... your missing several important points Adam!
* I have a demanding system system that pulls over 600W under load...
* Every PSU reaches max efficiency at 50-75% load, so for 600W this only leaves 1000W or above PSU's.
* The more powerful a psu is the less work it has to do there for it runs cooler and quieter.
* I wanted a PSU with 85% or higher efficiency rating and a single 12V rail.
So armed with the above guidelines I wanted a PSU that didnt cost a fortune. This used to be the case for the PcP&C Silencer 910W, but the price has dropped to £145 now...

If your PC is chomping away at 600W at all regularly then the efficiency of your PSU is the least of your problems.
Most likely your PC spends very nearly all of it's time mumbling along using a good deal less than 100W and your fancy-pants PSU is less efficient than a smaller one would be very nearly all the time. But wooo - 1000W is a great big number.
Ain't marketing grand.
