So what I am describing is perhaps exactly the same thing as Postpartum Depression?
Postpartum depression is most often caused (doctors, etc., are still arguing about the actual causes, btw) by severe hormonal fluctuations (there are a lot of other mental and emotional factors which can contribute in the more severe cases as well). Which, I suppose can have the same effect as what you've described. For me it was knowing that I would never again experience the beauty, joy, and wonder of bringing a new life into this world. Rather anticlimactic.
I snapped out of it the first time I had to change a shitty diaper. ;)

If you think the answer is that easy, then you've never spent any time around women, have you?

Hmm is it just me or do all you Northerners have issues?
I mean ADD, PTSD, JTSS, fhqwgadshg.
Is mental illness a side effect of a first world nation?

Gagging on the silver <strike>cock</strike> spoon?
hrrrrrrr I want to launch into a huge diatribe about how people these days tend to define themselves by their illnesses and how everyone is obsessed with being able to identify with groups of people who suffer the same affliction in a lame attempt to feel like they belong to something, but (a) I'm not sure that it's true and (b) I'm only now getting my coffee.
But you're right Shayde, it really seems like everybody's got something these days.
