I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about what’s going on with Jowood at the moment. Their website has been down for a while as well as their forums. Regarding their financial state, the only thing that I managed to find was a <a href="http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=39157">thread </a>on the bluesnews forum that talked about bankruptcy (although I wouldn't take his/her word for it). Lets just hope that this isn't the case.

my suspision about jowood rose when they bought Ravenburger (=fishtank) without really having the money for it... but it was all part of the growth plan.
I'm still surprised that there are people who actually believe these types of deals could be considered to be growth.
Sure, for publishers being BIG is a survival plan... but being big by inflating yourself, just increases the stakes, it doesn't bring down the risks...
AND it comes back and bites you in the *ss when you don't have the money for proper advertisement of quality products. *cough*ARX*cough*
