Eh, it's all in good fun. From what I've seen of him elsewhere, he's a *lot* more humble these days. (although, that's not much of an achievement, admittedly)

This clip is great, and John Romero is great. Suck it down! :D

You're kidding, but he was one of my heroes for a long time until the whole Ion Storm fiasco happened. But of course people are never going to let him live it down.

What's he doing here, of all places?

After Ion Storm busted he was exiled and lived as a hermit in obscurity, until a dev hungry for the lost arts of the old ways tracked him down to begin mapping again for the new generation. That's the message we're supposed to be getting from this, right?
Edit. Or, wait, you mean here as in Ireland?
Well, if you're going to be exiled, it should at least have English speakers around, overseas, not the UK, and SAfrica and ANZ are too damn far. Best I got.

I'm pretty sure the 'supersized ego' is an urban legend. I've heard from a number of people who have talked to him and he's supposedly a really cool guy.
As for his new FPS (details tommorow, by the way), I'll keep an eye on it, but my hopes aren't very high. Just because vets got back together to make a new game doesn't immediately mean it's going to be amazing.

Uhm, he's not returning to id. He's got his new company called (
http://www.nightworkgames.com/) Night Work Games. Seems they've put up a timer: 1d 7h to go.

A new old school FPS would be very welcome at this point, as it has been rather slim pickings for a while. Is a fast-paced non-linear non-bullet-spongy FPS with a single player campaign really that much to ask?

Yes, I meant here in the west of Ireland. Odd place for a game studio.
Speaking of Ion Storm and no one even mentions Anachrononx?
