I just got Deus Ex and JC runs unrealistically fast. Everything else is at normal speed. The run speed is considerably faster than SS2, Invisible War, and NOLF2 for example. Is this normal, and is there any way to change it?

Consider patching the game to the latest version.

It's the GOTY version, it's already the latest version.

Oh, sorry. No idea then.

SS2 with no implants & DX:IW are both notorious for their low movement speed. I don't know about NOLF. Have you been cheating & left the legs aug on?
Muze on 21/3/2004 at 22:54
No legs aug. I think I may be having the problem where the whole game runs too fast, but it's not super fast like others describe it. On occasion the characters' speech gets cut off. The walking certainly doesn't seem too fast though. I tried running the game in Win98 compaitibility mode but that didn't change anything.

Enable cheats and type in "slomo 0.5" and that should do the trick. It is not a cheat unless you set it lower and you use it as "Bullet Time."

I've got the rather weird problem of JC running at a reasonable speed but the sound effect speeds up when I go through an area change until it sounds rather like JC's taken up tap dancing. Dancing around in front of a mirror shows that it's the entire animation going hyper not just the sound :P

I've had that, keeper. It seems whenever he's stepped on an object (like the top of someone's computer) he does the tapdancing. It is pretty darn funny to watch him do it in the mirror.

This problem relates to Unreal 1 engine games on laptops running Windows XP. This happened on my brother's XP home laptop. After he switched to XP pro, the game ran normally.
