By the way, I hope you understand by "arcade", we mean a (usually covered) street with lots of shops. The one Insertnamehere mentioned is a big one that covers quite a few square blocks. (There are game arcades inside the street arcades, though.)

Entirely inconsistent; the space ratings from one place to another were completely different. Level 17? What does that even
mean. :eww:
;)
Man, can you even imagine that some of the Indians I spoke in Japan even ocassionally ate spice level 50(!!!!):o which is the highest you can get. I don't know why they didn't die.
BTW many Indian restaurants in Japan offer only 1-10 on the menu, but if you request it you can go higher.

How bizarre - a heat rating. Must be totally inconsistent, just like the way Vindaloo in the UK is.
None of you know hot food though. For consistently super hot food Nigerian is where it's at. Scotch bonnet puree in everything. And yet the hottest things I can ever remember are a Kung Po chicken in Taiwan and a Phal in the Portsmouth. I love it hot but was only able to manage a single mouthful of each of these. Crazy.

I thought 10 was the highest because of the menus, then was disappointed that 10 was tame; I didn't know it went higher. I moved to Japan after Korea, and Korean food is generally much spicier, so was let down by the general blandness of J food.
The only thing Japan gave me was a healthy tolerance for wasabi, so by now I put big chunks on sushi and ask for more.
The hottest thing I remember ever eating was some Pakistani tandori chicken. It was ludicrously spicy ... one piece and I was out for what felt like an hour ... eyes watering, perpetually drinking water and running out, almost shaking, all while trying to be polite and civil in company, very funny.

Do not drop the soap in the public bath houses.

Hm, you're not going to Tokyo so I doubt I'd be of much use. I don't remember much since it's been almost ten years since I've been there too...
