It's still made the whole thing lame as hell. You imagine terminator with a leona lewis song over the credits.
Right, when you put it that way... :erg:
At least there isn't any Celine Dion this time.

Terminator 2 is hands-down his best film.
Terminator is a superior movie in every way. T2 is fine entertainment, but lacks the grittyness and the originality, and the overall impact of Terminator. In a way, T2 is to T1 what Aliens is to Alien. Both originals are far superior to their sequels.

I wouldn't say superior, but it's a good analogy. T2 and Aliens are both incredibly different in style and tone to their darker, more horror-themed predecessors, but all four are great movies.

This especially applies to the two Aliens movies, you just can't really compare them. Aliens is one of the best action movies ever made, but there wasn't a single gunshot fired in Alien. Saying the first is superior is like saying Thief is better than System Shock or vice versa.

Just saw this a few hours ago. Stupid plot, but very, very pretty visuals, and I don't think that's just from it being my first movie in stereoscopic 3D. Worth seeing.

Saw at the iMax last night.
Plot was by the numbers with some big signposting and a few ladles of melted emmental. I really liked the treehugger stuff though; the whole eco-thing was just cool and it allowed for much weird creature interactions and some tripped out visuals.
Also reminded me alot of Alpha Centauri Visually it was just wonderful.
I took the glasses off a couple of times to see if I could get a feel for it in 2D and whilst its a bit blurred without them it still looked very good. However, the 3D made this film. Some of the sequences were truly dreamlike and it took me a few moments to adjust to reality once it was over. I was also one of the few people who kept the specs on until after the 3D had completely ended; it still goes on into the credits.
The jungle close up, night and day, and the scenes with the huge vistas and flying stuff were just so... cinematic(?). I've recently seen 2010 which also has mile wide special effects but imo it looked like nothing compared to this. I got dizzy (not nauseous, well that too for a about 15 mins but I soon got used to the 3D) with some of the over-the-precipice pieces, and due to just about my entire FOV being filled (we sat very close which I initially thought was going to be a mistake but which turned into the win) the close-in scenes shot at head height really got me in-the-room. The 3D consoles were great.
This is not a great film and I don't want to see it again in a rush because the plot and the script were pretty meh (the script oh god the script), but I'd love to see it again in 3D in a few months because there will be nothing out there that can satisfy that multicoloured, grand, fantasy trip out that the visuals gave me.
Film 6/10.
Experience 9/10.
Now give Cronenberg this tech and let him create something that both amazes and sickens us. And for Gods sake get someone who knows goot music is in on it. Avatar's orchestral "emotional" pieces were dire and by dire I mean LoTR soundtrack was awesome in comparison ifswim.
Epilogue:
This, in 3D, made my feel all gooey inside.

Pretty much agreeing with SubEff's verdict. :thumb:
It was the first 3D film I've seen so don't really have anything to compare it with except for the Alice and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs trailers that played before it. But at least compared to those trailers the 3D in Avatar was very well done, and rather subtle. At least you don't get the feeling that the filmmaker is bashing you over the head with every scene while shouting ITS IN THREE DEEE! THE FUUUUTURE OF CINEMAAAAA!
Won't rank up there with Cameron's best action films: T1, T2 & Aliens. Doesn't have as many iconic scenes as any of those films. Now, right after having seen it there's only really one scene that sticks in my memory. One scene that I think will go down in history as one of the all-time great actionscenes. The "MASKS ON!" one. A scene that really establishes the evil general as a bonafide badass of Duke Nukem-like proportions.
Most of the other actionscenes feel like something out of of Star Wars 1-3, or re-threads from Aliens(mechas fighting aliens). Not to say that those scenes aren't thrilling or well done though.

So, people I trust: Should I shelve my more pseudy feelings, suspend the nagging feeling at the back of my head that this is all a load of fancy bullshit, and just go see it? Is it worth the leona lewis? You and most of the reviews actually sound more like you're reviewing a theme park ride than a film. I dunno what to make of that.

Yes!
I thought the characters were pretty weak overall, but despite having some of the worst lines ever committed to film he was as hard as nails and exuded pure malevolence.
Vivian - seriously, stop being a spunksock. The Leona song is at the very end and if you don't like it walk out. This is like complaining that the exit sign at a restaurant is ugly so therefore the food was crap.

Subjective - your words fill me with joy and longing to experience Furry 3D hotness.
