I'll watch it on Tuesday. In 3D (but no IMAX, sadly). But due to the only theater in the vicinity that shows original versions not having 3D, I'll be forced to watch it in German :(

Well for one comment on the actual film from someone whose seen it in 3D. In short its excellent. While the end was somewhat predictable, the action is in good amounts, the 3D effects are great and the overall story is really good. Exactly the kindof movie I`d expect to see from Cameron. Good to see him doing a sci-fi movie again.
I`m not sure if its intentional or not but alot of the technology present seemed very similar to that of Aliens (ie the mechs and ships) but probably just a coincidence.

Eh, it's alright, but noone will remember it in a year, aside from the tech. The tech *is* pretty fantastic though. It's certainly the prettiest mighty whitey story ever told, but you've seen it a thousand times before, probably better told, and certainly with a less dull villain.
Still not keen on 3d though, it seems like a solution in search of a problem. And those fucking classes really strain my eyes

So far, I'm seeing nothing that doesn't suggest this is not only a highly polished but also the worlds first fully 3D turd.

I saw it last night and while the plot is indeed 100% predictable it's such a tremendously exciting visual feast that I ended up really enjoying the film anyway. As EvaUnit pointed out nobody can direct these kind of amped up action sequences better than Cameron and it's such a relief after all that shit that the McGs/Bays/Emmerichs of the world have been peddling in the last 10 years. The special effects are truly staggering and are almost completely seamless, being much more effective than the trailer suggested they would be.
While the plot was far from earth shattering and all the characters followed pretty cliched arcs, it was at least pretty solid storytelling and not a god damn mess of plot holes/superfluous characters ala Transformers and their ilk. It's all broadly drawn and some of the dialog is pretty clunky but the Navi stuff is quite successful (the romance is surprisingly effective and I felt a palpable sense of loss when the tree was destroyed) and is the real heart of the story. The human angle suffers a bit more from the heavy-handed approach and I was cringing a little at the "Oh noes, what have we done?" moments and a lot every time General "Hard-Ass" opened his mouth.

I'm really interested to see how well this film does financially, because I'd like to see Battle Angel come to realisation. I have full confidence that Cameron would be able to create a fully believable grungy, industrial cyberpunk setting. It'd also be awesome to see a film about robots hitting each other made by somebody with genuine talent for composing action scenes and narrative cinema, unlike fucking Bay and McG.

Seeing it tomorrow at iMax. Will report then. I don't expect the plot to be up to much but I'm hoping the visuals will be spot on.

Got a ticket for the IMAX in london on 29th Dec. This is actually one of the few films I've deliberately avoided reading anything about short of watching the trailer.
I'm excited for it on 2 levels: first because it looks frakking fantastic, and second because its James MotherFUCKING Cameraon.
If Enya is anywhere near this film I will go Postal on everyone though.

No it's worse, Leona Lewis sings the theme tune over the end credits.
Even though she's a god awful shrieking banshee and James Horner's a recycling hack, they're still infinitely better than fucking Linkin Park and Steve Jablonsky from the Bayformers 2.

I actually like the Jablonsky Transformers soundtracks.
