But there is a market for free movies, and supply and demand are always in equilibrium!
And either way, free stuff on the net fights companies who try to have a monopoly over the distribution to charge through the nose for their movies. You could say free movies naturally evolved from the displeasure of some people with the current prices and brings prices down.

You could also say that "free movies" naturally evolved from straightforward physical theft.

If I'm working for ten dollars an hour, that means for an hour's worth of work I can get two hours of enjoyment at a movie theatre. The prices really aren't that bad.

Hey, we only do the cheap shows before noon on Saturdays. It's not the ticket price that's so bad ($4 per). It's the darn concessions. I've been known to smuggle snacks in my purse. The theatres make most of their money in concessions, not tix.

Well said.
@Renegen
In this case, your justification/explanation of a theft pretty much goes hand in hand with my students' belief that "It ain't a crime unless/until you get caught."
They know that it's wrong, but come up with the most amazing excuses and justifications.
We talk alot about that shit.

That's def. true.
hmmmmmm...
One of my jobs used to be to take these same students to the movie theater.
I gotta admit that since they had no money at all, I let them go to the pharmacy around the corner for soda and candy; they'd hide it in their coats/bags.
Is that stealing a "sale" from the theater? (No theater allows outside food/drink, so it's breaking the rules.)
It's certainly not the same as stealing the candy from behind the counter.
...I'm gonna have to think on this one.
