Hey fatties, get off the Internet and go and see this movie RIGHT NOW.
James Bond ((
http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/casinoroyale/) trailers) is no longer a shit parody of itself, seriously great film
and a Bond who can act. :o
More later when I've absorbed it a bit more as I've literally just walked back through the door.
ps Eva Green is hot

Not sure what to think of this film... Die Another Day was terrible, but while Casino Royale is a step in the right direction, they almost went too far. Craig is a fantastic Bond, and I'm looking forward to more of his movies, but Casino Royale was often overly violent or uncomfortable.
Of the modern Bond movies, I'm still giving the nod to GoldenEye, but Casino Royale would be second in line. It's great that the producers are aware of the problems with Brosnan's last few outings (poor writing, over-reliance on CGI - not Brosnan himself), and have attempted to correct them. The new formula just needs some fine tuning to give it the atmosphere that made the Connery movies so appealing.
And I was waiting the entire movie for the classic assassin-in-the-hotel-room fight without background music. It never came.

I'm going to have to echo Aja's comments here. Most of the movie felt like a solid Bond action romp, but there were some parts that felt out of place. I mean Bond sure did kill a lot of people in this one. Violence doesn't generally unnerve me, but seeing Bond be so violent kind of did.
Yet, I liked the body count. Reminded me of Goldeneye on Nintendo.
Daniel Craig, on the other hand, is a solid Bond. He is a bit weird looking at times, but at other times I thought he was bloody Sean Connery saying those lines. He'll probably be good for the series. He seems to be a good actor. Of course, I always thought he looked the part.
ps - Mads Mikkelsen is totally hot

The last Bond was god awful and I swore never again, but this seems to be causing quite a stir in CinemaLand. Monday it is then. But why didn't they wait 'till the new year to release? There's always DVD I suppose.

I heard it was good, as soon as monday rolls around my bandwidth says hello to Casino Royale!
I also saw Munich the other day and Craig was the "macho guy" the movie is also about assassination, he definitely seems to just carry over his character from that.

Die Another Day sucked major ass, but Casino Royale looks good. Even if John Cleese isn't in it (seriously, wtf?).

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'll venture a guess that's because it's a prequel. Then again, that didn't stop Judi Dench from appearing.

The Bond character, Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton especially, always struck me as being rather violent and brutal; I.e. killing defenseless opponents, etc... Once again I'll iterate that I haven't seen the movie yet, looks good though.

Craig gives a solid Bond performance. IMO he still runs second to Connery, but the attitude is there. He's got a nicely toned body but is definitely not a pretty boy. I would love to see more of him - not that there's much I didn't get to see.;) This Bond is rough around the edges, but this is the dawn of the 007 we've come to know. I have to assume that he hasn't pulled together his super-suave persona of the chronologically later books. But, it's a hell of a start. I'd love to see Craig do it again.
