It's an awesomely tense story, with an undercurrent of dread and impotence in the face of something the characters (and impressionable young readers) believe may be truly supernatural.
Also it didn't help that Rascar Capac is a real Peruvian mummy on display in Brussels that I'd seen pictures of. Mind you, Hergé's addition of jewelry and hair made it all the more frightening.

I think that Spielberg and Jackson may take different parts from different books and mash it all up into one story - such as how Tintin meet up with Haddock or the twin officers. I am doubtful that they will just do one movie per book.
