Great character who bought a great presence to a movie. The most chilling role I remember him in was a movie that I can't recall the title of but Yul Brynner was in the lead role. It was a Sci Fi film that opened with Bryner standing in a wreck of a city waiting for a group to employ him as a fighter/mercenary. Pallance was the baddie. Great movie, great actor.

Scared the crap out of me as a kid when I watched Shane and saw ol' Jack shoot that guy in cold blood. Added a nasty twist to a pretty bland film.
I know it's supposed to be a classic, but all I remember is that bloke lying in the mud.
