I keep hearing my character say "not now". What am I missing? I've scoured this rather small level thinking I've missed something but I can't see what it is...

you say 'not now' when he (or any NPC) is in the middle of saying something to you already. wait for him to finish first.

For me it was that I was too far away from him. Which is silly since I was where the game left me after talking to him.
