Okay, I managed to update to 2011 drivers for my card, and Thief 2 is behaving the exact same as before. I can't even start a New Game without it crashing, let alone load the one save file I created. It's looking like it just won't work on this machine, so I may have to wait until I have a new one (I'm due for an upgrade). Really not sure what else I could possibly do to get this to work at this point.

Update: Holy crap, it's working. With no other options, I decided to see how it would run without ddfix at all and replaced the patched exe with the original backup. It runs in XP mode perfectly, with no crashing with either Load or New Game, and even the slight graphical glitch with the metalworks door isn't there anymore.

The only odd thing is that the main menu is compacted towards the right side of my monitor with a black box at the left, but I can fix that by setting my monitor's stretch settings for 640x480 (or I can just completely ignore it because it doesn't hurt anything).

If I have any issues come up after all this work, I'll post back in this topic. But yeah..Thief Gold with ddfix and Thief 2 without it. That's what my PC seems to want. I actually feel rather silly, since running the game without ddfix should have been one of the first things I did. Instead, I immediately installed that and assumed it would increase the game's stability on my machine.

But like I said, if I encounter more problems (And I probably will), I'll come back here. I believe I ran this game without ddfix successfully in the past, but I encountered crashing at Mission 3. Let's hope that doesn't happen again, either. Actually, I can easily test each mission with the skip command...Anyway, thanks for all the help thus far. I couldn't get it working despite your numerous suggestions, but they lead me to the "last resort" of just removing the fix, and now it's running again.

Actually, now that I think about it, I didn't even try running Thief Gold without ddfix. I'll see if it works without it as well. Maybe it will have the same effect and make it more stable for me.

Final Update (For now): Wow. Thief Gold works flawlessly without ddfix. It doesn't even crash on exit like it did with that patch applied. I've tested up to Bonehoard with plenty of success. I'll check out the rest of the missions, then check Thief 2's. It looks like I can finally play two of my favorite games of all time again.
