After saving Shany and going back to her mothers shop, I have gone to the caslte prison to talk to talk to erzog... I cant get the key to get in the cell..or should I do something else first?

If you're trying to talk to him, you can speak through the bars, he'll give you the password to get through that door in the tavern, which leads to the temple of Akbaa.
