I'm fed up with all this crap! What is it, a get-out clause for jocks? As far as I can see you're either nice to people or you're an arsehole to them, and one day of buying flowers and plumping pillows is nothing but empty tokenism. I like to think that I'm very nice to all the important women in my life, and that I notice them and appreciate them MORE THAN ONE DAY A BLOODY YEAR.
It's worse than valentines day (while I'm on the subject) - I mean, what could possibly be less actually romantic than omnipresent, enforced romanticism?

NB - Of course I brought my girlfriend flowers and sparkling wine and cooked her food and all that on valentines day. I'm not a gimp. But I didn't pretend I was special for doing it. And I do it reasonably often anyhow because I'm a king of love, hooray!
