I think people might have been shocked at how much modernization and change we hardcore old school types would have been willing to accept if Eidos Montreal had gotten the Thief essentials right.

I would have tolerated a lot if they had at least kept Stephen Russell

I wouldn't even have minded a new protagonist, if the immersive simulation aspect of Thief had stayed in-tact, or at least reasonably close to it. Instead, they are trying to reinvent a character that didn't need reinventing.

Really?
So if they got him back now you'd be able to forgive some of this other nonsense they're doing?
Because that's idiotic and ideologically worse than not forgiving - it shows you with have no principles, no understanding of what made Thief great or are easily appeased by superficial things.

I'm glad Russell isn't attached to this <strike>trainwreck</strike> project.

No, it's more a question of being better able to tolerate the game's shortcomings. If SR was Nugarrett, his voice, distinct personality, etc, considering how important it is to the series, would enhance the game as a whole for me, and distract from the bad things.
SubJeff on 18/8/2013 at 21:58
You're just agreeing with me.
Can't you see that?
Goldmoon Dawn on 18/8/2013 at 22:47
Azaran said he would TOLERATE the game better, he never said he would FORGIVE anything. *You* are the one who mentioned forgiving, not Azaran. You cant put words into peoples mouths and then build a case against them based upon the words you created.
SubJeff on 18/8/2013 at 23:11
I know you've got a bone to pick with me but if you could stop being quite so mediocre it'd be fab.
"would enhance the game as a whole for me, and distract from the bad things."
This goes rather further than tolerating.
Even so - if you're able to tolerate "a lot" of the shortcomings of the game simply because of a voice you're going to hear during cutscenes and a few times per level you're displaying some... interesting behaviour. Some might say it was, at the least, unreasonable.
Goldmoon Dawn on 18/8/2013 at 23:14
No, you are the one who cant go more than a day to a week without trying to pick on other people here, not me sir. I just get tired of it after a while. Ever heard that before Sub? I could link to many posts where people have said the exact same thing to you. I challenge you to find anyone ever telling me that. Im done with this and with you, for now. Leave people alone man. Cheers.
