I've been up for 25 hours. Why? - by Digital Nightfall

The other half prefer to throw bodies while they're still alive ;)

It's still weird, nuff said.
About half the people I've interacted with state that DXIW completely sucks. The another half hasn't played the game or isn't keen to the Deus Ex universe.
Am I weird or do I have the "Be nice to Ion Storm" bio-mod in my head cos I like the game. Perhaps it's because I didn't follow its progress. I played "the" Deus Ex and among nearly everyone else fell in love with it. However, when DX2 was announced it was very clear to me that I wouldn't set any hopes for it nor would I fix an extra-eye upon it (the one which I got from Trickster as a matter of fact, handy for spying on things). DX came as a total surprise to me, as did Thief. Both cames rocked and I saw both of them first at the local store: "Hey, this looks good. I'm gonna buy it goddamnit!"
Well, DXIW came and I spotted it in store (again), purchased it (among with my DVD-station) and installed it. I don't really know what do you guys think but I'm loving it. It's still clearly above the average when compared to games I've "got" to play lately. In fact, I haven't bought a single brand new game during a couple of months for the sake that I don't like this game-brand ruling nowdays. I've purchased only some old-day bestsellers here and there.

I gave DX:IW 8/10 in (

When reading posts from all those die-hard fans angered by the - yes, horrible - demo, one can't but recall Gunther, the beloved Teuton of Deus Ex. Just like he, they wanted orange. ISA gave them lemon lime. Just like he, they failed to accept those old times have passed and there's something new ahead.
After beating IW for the second time, I still fully stand by this statement. The game was rushed out but that doesn't hinder its brilliance for me.

I do like the game as well, it's a good effort but I think they could have made it so much better. Bring back the skill points, it worked in the original, you could really build up a unique character so why did they take it away? More balancing of the biomods, having Thermal camo and Stealth camo at the same time, just not balanced and makes the game too easy. Get rid of the universal ammo, again there was nothing wrong with the old system, if it aint broke don't fix it. Make the levels larger like the original, I don't know why they have made them so small, looking at Halo (and Halo 2) the xbox is more than capable of processing large and detailed environments. Make it for the PC first then taylor for the consoles second.

They can't do that. The PC has much more ram so it'll allow for much bigger levels. If they made it for PC first they'd have to redo the levels for the Xbox version. It'd be almost twice as much work. Hence, they gotta make it for the weaker system first, yes, at the expence of the game not being all that it could be on the more powerfull system.
So you say; Well fuck the Xbox then, just make for PC!
Nope. The Xbox version is the one that brings in the big bux. No Xbox version = DEFENITELY no PC version.

Why can't they make it for PC first and Xbox second? It cost more money, thanks for stating the obvious, however Farcry, Half-life 2 and Doom3 are made for the PC, all of these are huge games and the latter two awaiting a release date and they have just recently been confirmed as in development for the Xbox so these games were made for the PC first and now being made for the Xbox second, if this can be done then Ion Storm could have done it for Deus Ex IW, they thought that one size fits all, not trying to tailor each version around a systems strength, a mistake to be sure.

You're not wierd. People who loved the first and love/like the second exist, it's just hard to talk about the game when you know you're topic is going to get jumped by anti-DX:IW protesters as soon as you post it.
Never in my life have I seen any gaming community soley dedicated to smothering discussion about experiences with a game, which is integral to a successfull community (as opposed to talking about the merits of the game itself) ... this is the first.
Of course, there probably have been others before, I just don't know them

After not playing for a few days after my long stint, I loaded up the game one last time to finish it before T3 stole me away forever.
About the ending I chose:
I went with JC of course, mostly because I couldn't stand the thought of siding against my former self, even though, like the original game, I would have chosen to side with the Illuminati.
About the other endings:
I wasn't going to go through the trouble of loading up some old save game and trying to win the game in other ways, so I just installed blink player (look for Rad Tools if you want it) and watched the other three endgame movies. I must say, all of them seem to be simply various incarnations of really depressing outcomes. Whoever wrote this story has a love affair with doomsday scenerios.
No. I wrote this review for Gameplanet NZ :-
(

I played the first Deus Ex, loved it but acknowledged it had flaws, and felt pretty similarly about the second game. It is a game I aim to keep in my collection longer term and revisit from time to time simply because it is a whole heap of fun.

Passable sequel.
But it's not much replayable as was the other game.
As a matter of fact i have replayed the first one at least 100 times, no kidding, but this was no more than 5-7 times.
