Ok i' m using windows 7 on my very old (athlon 64 3500+) PC.
Everything else is working fine. But sometimes ( I mean rarely...but very annoying) itunes simply jams the computer with trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............ sound:o. and i have to manually restart (Nothing else works)
I have installed latest audio drivers for my for my realtek 665.(well i think so...they were for vista but the support site says they are same for 7) .
Now What?????
One more thing I have hp DX5150 SFF.

When does this happen? Only during decoding of audio (listening, basically)? Does it only happen with specific codecs? (mp3, aac, etc.)
First thing that comes to mind is to use different software since iTunes is a resource-hungry pile of horseshit. I recommend XMPlay, a compact and flexible little app. In theory it might be good for troubleshooting problems like these since you can use DirectShow, ASIO, etc. (separate plugins) for the output. I for example discovered that DirectShow was being wonky when it randomly rebooted my PC during playback, switched to ASIO and all was fine again (Of course it could have been just the XMPlay plugin, but I never tested another DS-based player to confirm. ASIO is superior anyway.).
