hilariously thanks to all these tweaks I can run it at 800x600 4xAA with tweaked bloom, canopy shadows, other shadows etc. distant grass, high textures at about 30fps all the time on a 9800 Pro. :D

Hmm, I must try the AA and tweaked bloom as well instead of HDR. Any chance you could post all of the changes you've made? I've had some luck running at the same resolution, but not quite that well.

I never had to set read only and it never overwrote my settings...? Maybe it only does that if you go and change settings in the settings menu afterwards

I'll post when I get home, but I noticed that the AA made virtually no difference to the fps whatsoever - I think it may just be a feature of my AIW card that I just wasn't using but which doesn't infringe on other pipelines or whatever. :confused:

Either that or the rest of your system isn't feeding the card fast enough.
