I managed to miss... pretty much all of the rock music in the 80s with the exception of the Smiths, the Cure, and Joy Division... Aside from that it was mostly the electronic stuff. Tears for Fears, New Order, Depeche Mode, and the Pet Shop Boys (as linked to above), Erasure too. I realize half of those guys were gay, but I still admit to liking them alot, even though people remind me when they hear me say it. As though it has anything to do with the quality of their music (mostly)

For me the big one in the 80s was the Free Mandela concert, the highlight being Dire Straits with Eric Clapton on board. Here's Sultans of Swing:
