So on Xmas eve I was working and work gets a bit... weird around Xmas and New Year and some of the rules get bent a little. Hella food, cakes, buffets, loads of soft drinks and people with Santa hats on and stuff. Anyways, some genius brought in his iPod after DLing a really random selection that ranged from Pixies to Lady Gaga to... Flock of Seagulls.
Yes, Flock of Seagulls - I Ran.
And I remembered how I loved this back in the day and damnit I still do. Some of you will remember this, some of you will hate it but I reckon some of you will get the same nostalgic butterflys I get. So here is the link. Enjoy or die. Come to think of it, I was never embarrassed about liking this track, but I was the other two.

And the other two;
Kate Bush - Running up that Hill: (

Laura Branigan - Self Control: (

God I miss 80s music sometimes. Thing is I don't own any anymore. Remind me people, dig up those gems.

You were embarassed about Kate Bush, but why? John Martyn continued to produce some really good tunes in this period. I certainly wouldn't admit to liking U2 in it's current incarnation, however, their first string of albums before the 90s contained some pretty good tunes. The mixing on the album War on vinyl is definitely worth a mention on its own.

You know what the sad thing is? I've grown to liking that Rick Astley song. There's something about 80s music all around that's a lot more upbeat and real than a good chunk of the music out of the 90s and later. That's not to say ALL 90s music was bad any more than all 80s music was good, it was just a general aesthetic I've noticed.
When it comes to musical eras though, late 60s-70s is
it for me when I'm not listening to my usual metal or dark ambient.
Here, (

detholl, I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling:
I think that aesthetic is particularly noticeable with pop though for those periods because the 80s blurred the line a lot more between pop and rock.

The Fixx still sound suprisingly good and fresh, songs like Saved by Zero, Red Skies at Night and Stand or Fall.
