There is a valid point about how Euro governments are perhaps regulating and restricting business and industry too much, and not doing enough to encourage the generation of wealth. Which is slightly worrying given the rise of china and india. If we fail on that count, I think things could get a bit shitty all-round.

I don't really agree with that opinion, but it's certainly a topic worthy of an intelligent article.
I'm fairly sure that even if Europe completely unfettered business (with all the problems I feel that would bring) - it still would not be able to compete with China. They're operating with a massive workforce and, seemingly, no care for annoying restrictions like health and safety. Hence their production levels are EPIC!
I think a continued policy of protectionist trade tariffs looks a lot safer than trying to win an impossible production war. However, I am FAR FROM AN EXPERT. Obviously.
