A bit off topic, considering it was just a bit of sarcasm, however Kabbalah, from what I have read (very little), seems to date back to First Century AD. That would certainly classify it within the constructs of a practiced religion.
Is it real Judaism? It is not practiced by the majority of the Jewish faith by any means. IMHO, it probably resembles the different factions of Christianity. Someone digs a bit into the doctrine, grabs onto one concept, and creates a whole different branch of worship and such.
Aside from that, it's worked for Hollywood movie stars, how can it be wrong?
