It's that damn Builder Brush causing my crashes! (Testers needed to verify) - by Hit Deity

Not really. I had to "register" my card, then download a small file that takes a snapshot of your system info and graphics card and then send it to them. Nothing fantastically annoying.

Oh. Good. :) Maybe I'll try it too then.

Sheesh> I got this from ATI:
Quote:
Based on our experience, games issues are usually due to system configuration
errors. First ensure your system meets the minimum requirements of the game
and that you have any patches from the game vendor installed. If the problem
persists, review the full details for trouble shooting game related issues.
The email went on to say that if the problem was reproducible on other systems or with other ATI card users, then it might be a more serious driver-related issue and that I should submit another ticket under the "Catalyst Drivers problems" heading... Funny, that's exactly what I did the first damn time, but I played along and sent in another ticket.
Bottom line: Don't anyone hold their breath waiting for ATI to fix anything anytime soon.

That was exactly the kind of "answer" I got when I reported the Thief 2 fog problem. You can still find an old thread where I was fuming at ATI because of that :grr:

I have a friend that used to be with ATi, I could give him a call on Wednesday and see if he has a suggestion on an individual to email if anyone wants me to.

Is anyone else running a 9000 Pro then? I can easily believe it has something to do with the different GPUs - most of you who are having trouble have "better" Radeon cards than me.
This also means that the next card I buy won't have an ATI chip ;)
I'm running a 9000 Pro :) And, no I'm not really having the crash issues as most seem to be having. Then again, I'm also not building with the editor as much as a lot of the others on this forum (currently working on a little Dromed mission--but once I'm done with this I'll be T3Ed'ing in prep for the Komag contest).
I also plan on making a move away from ATI when I go for my next card upgrade, but more for the fog issue than anything else. For the longest time, I didn't even know there
was fog in the game... or any other game (not that I've played a lot of them). I DL'ed the Omega driver that seems to help a little bit, but it still doesn't look like the amazing fog effects I've seen in screenies from people with other cards.

I guess the 9000 Pro is generally alright then - thanks for the confirmation. I may also go the nVidia route when I can spare enough cash for an upgrade.

Yeah, I should have known, too. I had 2 NVidia cards, then decided to go with ATI because some articles I read at the time said it was faster than the GeForces, etc. I think I'll go back next time.

I just got a call back from the Seth, he said that he unfortunately can't give out the email addresses of anyone working there because 1) it would be kind of rude and 2) their turnover was huge when he left.
He did mention that constantly mashing the "send report" button on their page will eventually get their attention, especially if they are getting emails from a lot of different people. So I plan on sending in a report tonight. I've been very lucky recently and have only had a few crashes in the last week.
