-A Brita filter
Hm, weird, I got one of those too.
I also got:
-A German-English dictionary
-A sweater
-A book about WWII
-A nice winter hat
-A nice pair of leather gloves
-A charger for my phone

- A pair of Grado headphones. Mmmmmm...
- A gift card from GameStop (several weeks early), which I translated into a copy of Fallout 3.
- An oil-filled radiator style electric heater. It snows here sometimes and we don't have central heating, so that's freakin' awesome.
- My favorite watch all repaired and cleaned. It's a great watch, covered with gears & stuff that do absolutely nothing. Looks like something that Kerras from Thief:TMA would wear.
- Assorted minor items (food, socks, etc)

Which model?
I've never been terribly fond of Grado (I like my music to have soundstage) but they sure do make rock music sound sweet.
I wanted a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9 for Christmas, the only thing I really wanted that stood out, but nobody can afford a pair, least of all me. :D

Grado SR-80s are wonderful headphones. It's true they don't have the biggest soundstage, but I've never heard anything of comparable price that did.

They're SR 80s, and they make me do this :cheeky:. As far as soundstage, I can always fire up my computer and listen to my old Monsoon speakers for that. That's not my main concern with headphones. Now if only someone would get me those Vandersteen speakers that I've always wanted, along with a living room large enough to put them in...

Lots of stuff I won't bore you with here, but notably my parents bought us a beautiful cast-iron, enamelled, Le Crueset griddle pan (which I did ask for) and a gas BBQ. Rapidly approaching middle-age or what? :D

Unless you're one of those guys who like skull-crushing bass, Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 will beat anything at $200 or below. The quality of the AD700s is ridiculous for how little they cost (street prices are around $100 now).
AD700s have an enormous soundstage; very few headphones sound more open and airy (AD2000 is a notable one to mention, but it costs 4.5x as much).

A flat panel for my PC. It was time. Maybe the image quality is a bit worse than my old CRT, but hey, at least the LCD is bigger and doesn't take up half of my desk.
Fallout 3 collector's edition.
Both volumes of Grindhouse on DVD.

A moose on a spring. Yeah. A bit of an in-joke. Best gift this year for the sheer awesomeness and surprise factor.
No socks. The end is nigh?

Sometimes I wish that every time I met some goon who talked about how great Snow Crash was (half of them never actually read it) I could kick them in the nuts without reprisal.
How dare they enjoy novels you don't!
