Right, I've saved up enough to be able to pull the trigger on this next month.
I'll check myself, but in case anyone has the info to hand - are all of these hardware options still the best for the money?
I'm kind of ashamed to ask this as I used to be really up to date with hardware stuff but totally fell behind the curve when I started University 9 years ago.

One final question just while the topic is still relatively fresh - I want to get rid of one of the DVD-ROM drives, but I no longer have the plastic facing for the tower I'm using. Is there anything worthwhile to put in that bay? If not, the other options are to continue having 2 optical drives (neither of which I ever really use, other than on the rare occasion I want to listen to a CD) or just to buy a new case.

You can get a fan controller/temperature monitor to pop in there. Or even a couple more front facing fans. There's a bunch of stuff you can put into a 5.25 bay.
