I'm maybe twenty minutes into the game (less, actually) and I'm stuck on my pistol. Using the mousewheel changes the lower right indicator to different items, but they don't appear in my hands. Pressing the corresponding number doesn't work either. Am I missing something monumentally simple here, or is this a glitch? I'm using the Gametap Game of the Year edition.
EDIT -- I dropped my pistol and picked it up again and now everything works fine.

It's a glitch involving duplicate items iirc. And yeah, that's the correct way to get rid of it.

And now one more question -- can I somehow turn off mouse acceleration in the menus? In-game the mouse works fine, but every time I press escape or F1 the acceleration kicks in, and running at 1440x900 means there are a lot of very small buttons that are hard to press.

Don't know about that, but if it's any help you can use the arrow keys to navigate the menu quite easily.
