I kind of agree, apart from The Netflix thing.
What are the 2 shows you watch?
Deadly Shadows is such a mixed bag. Poor controls, some poor levels, but also some great levels and overall a good game.
And it has The Cradle and no matter what you think of the rest of it, that was goddam amazing when you first play it.

Top Gear and The Mentalist, respectively.

So can someone confirm... In the woefully few (and now decidedly old) gameplay footage videos released the ‘shroud' is still in full effect. Has this since been removed?
With the date of release getting very close I have decided to stop passively observing and only have now begun to seriously consider this game. I understand the trepidation at the new "features?" and yes we are all amazed that they seem to have been able to further streamline TDS. I could possibly accept all that, I mean expectations for anything good from the AAA games industry are so incredibly low these days that I merely chuckled at the obnoxious inclusion of excessive loot glint in the gameplay videos... but this shroud business may be a deal breaker for me.
It is not the insulting justification for such lazy design that is the problem, it is the fact that in the gameplay footage it clearly *FLASHES* every time you transition dark to light (and vice versa!). It is not a subtle gradual fade in and out, but a full blown, dark eye destroying *flash*!
I can not imagine how I would be able to even get close to re-creating the edge of the seat, step by step tension TDP, TMA and even (very occasionally, after 2 days of applying mods) TDS provided when you carefully test the boundry of your cover, only to be FLASHED at by a murky inksmear obscuring your view.
Please tell me that they have since got rid of this!?!

Nope, and guess what? You can apparently turn the visibility gem off in the menu but not the shroud. Kind of tells you what took precedence in the design.

Thanks for explaining the difference between a shirt and a video game. I was fuzzy on the subject but now I'm good.
No, I have never DL'd games, music or movies save fan made Thief content. I get stuff from Sam's Club and Amazon and on very rare occasions the local Best Buy.

Just out of curiosity, what's the reasoning behind that?

You could back up your games to thumb drives or SD cards if you want longevity without as much fragility. The former is reliable for at least 10 years on a shelf, and the latter can supposedly last up to a century if you treat them right.
I'd trust both of them more than a DVD for long term storage.
I have a few thumb drives, but I never thought about SD cards other than for photos, it could be an idea.

A masterpiece of atmosphere that was. First and second time round.
Thief 1 had its contender for scariest game level of all time, Thief 3 had its.
Thief 2 of course didn't even attempt a spooky level. Wonder if Thief 4 will have a go at one.

You guys want the mods to lock this thread too? :erg:
Think I'm going with the edit/delete option this morning.
Keep off the personal comment/attack, please.
