I did. It is a coherently designed game with its own story to tell and its own gameplay to explore - it is building on Thief's legacy while maintaining its own distinct character and ideas. Thief 4 looks like design-by-committee gone wrong, a game which discards several core ideas from the previous parts but
cannot offer good alternatives in their place, while it also narrows the scope of environmental simulation instead of enriching it. That's the problem.

Almost guaranteed. Pretty much every AAA game uses Steam these days; the ones that don't are by EA and use Origin.
And anyway it's moot, as the PC version of Thief will not be in a box.

No, I'm talking about purchasing the game normally and legitimately. I'm guessing you download it before you activate it. Once you have it downloaded, it's yours, and you do what you want with it.
