Aren't health care and medical expenses the same thing? And how much do people in the US really pay for healthcare - private and public? I recall BrokenArts not being able to afford some scan or other. Don't you pay for most of it through insurance?
Basically, our health insurance rates (for those of us that pay, I didn't pay while in the military for example) go up as the costs of medical care go up. The costs of medical care goes up as hospitals attempt to soak up the costs of medical care provided to the uninsured (which is in the $billions). No argument here, our system is broke..and so are those of us who have tried to pay for even moderate care out of pocket.

Wrong,
Illegals are taking jobs that Americans can't take and still be able to support their family due to wages being driven down so far.
So, why take that out on the illegal immigrants? Get after the people who employ them.
Quote:
Illegals often pool their earnings from low wage jobs while living together in a single residence home, most of their money being sent back to their country of origin. All the while health care, education and medical expenses are paid for by our tax dollars.
Then get that money back from those that make huge profits out of their cheap labor.
Quote:
For every illegal we subsidize above the poverty line we help create an American below the poverty line. How is this any less tragic? We Americans have always been generous, but how long can we keep this up? And at what cost?
Paying them fantastically low wages, sometimes not even getting paid at all, is now generosity?
I reccommend you to watch "The Border" with Jack Nicholson to get an idea what life looks like from the other side of the fence.

Go after them both. Think 'chicken or the egg'.
Agreed
Not even worth answering
I've been there pal. I'm not some pampered xenophobe FFS, I've spent the better part of the last six years in places you've probably only see on the news.
Unfortunately we can't be expected to provide for everyone, even we fat rich Americans don't have the means.

I think then that we agree there are two sides to the problem.
BTW, out of interest: What were those places?

If americans can't live on the legal minimum wage for these jobs, that's a
state legislation problem, not an illegal immigration problem. These americans should direct their efforts towards raising the minimum wages in their states
For those complaining that employers are paying their workers (immigrants) less than the state minimum wage I would suggest they look into a legal remedy against the employers because that shit is
illegal.
Here I'll even point Californians to a potential starting point:
Cal. Lab. Code § 90.5(a):
It is the policy of this state to vigorously enforce minimum labor standards in order to ensure employees are not required or permitted to work under substandard unlawful conditions or for employers that have not secured the payment of compensation,
and to protect employers who comply with the law from those who attempt to gain a competitive advantage at the expense of their workers by failing to comply with minimum labor standards.

That much is true, it's a tragic and complex issue.
All I've tried to convey was that not all who are concerned are raving racist lunatics who think that they are the reincarnation of Paul Revere.
This is a monster of an issue.
If you really care pm me, as much as I wish this thread would get hijacked I'm not the one.

I'm not the one whining about them being here, and no one is calling them "legal aliens" anyways so that's not even relevant. You still don't know what you're talking about.

I'm not either see above.
Whatever, go on with your bad self.

I'm not really au fait with the situation but aren't the employers just increasing profits whilst these illegal workers are struggling to live? Living in shared accommodation is no-one's idea of fun. They may be in the US and working illegally but should we be looking at the greater or lesser of the two evils?
