I got no problem with people wanting to come here and work. That said, I wish they'd learn the common language and not turn into drug dealers. But I really get PO'ed at the Mexican president's (prime minister? Dictator?) stance. "Anywhere there is a mexican, is Mexico!" Screw that! If I were the president, I would declare that an act of war and that any illegal immigrant is to be regarded as a hostile occupying force!
Way to go: Declare war on fieldworkers, babysitters, housekeepers and gardeners whose cheap work is exploited.
If the US wants to do something about illegal immigration then for a change they shouldn't only prosecute the illegals but much more harshly those that employ them.
Question is if you'd be willing to pay double or triple the price for your bread, once your field harvesting drug barons are out of the picture.

People complain about Mexican immigrants stealing their jobs. What the hell? It's not like you would be walking through a parking lot one day, when suddenly an immigrant knocks you down and steals your job. They're just willing to do more work for less pay.

Lead-filled, imported bread at that. Actually the bread supply probably wouldn't suffer too much, but you could certainly kiss a chunk of the fresh fruit and vegetable market goodbye. And none of you would see an almond ever again.

What is the point of having an immigration policy if you can't control your border? You don't have to hate a group of people to determine whether a policy is good or bad.I work with a lot of mexicans in my job some who are illegal but I know their character from having worked with them.Unless you have some kind of process you don't know who is coming in.The process takes patience, commitment, both in time and study and at least shows a precursory respect for the laws of the country your entering in to.
Will the drivers license make illegals be legally bound by driving laws?
A friend of mine got plowed into by two illegals one morning both of whom were racing on a street getting up to 100 mph.The cop did nothing as they had no documentation.

It's not really quite that simple. For example, say an employer can hire you for federal minimum wage or hire an illegal immigrant for under federal minimum wage. Your only option to compete for the job is to work for as much as, or less than what the illegal is. The problem is federal
minimum wage which you, as a registered citizen, cannot legally work for. So in a way, they are quite literally stealing jobs.
the best part is that we're going to essentially have criminals driving around with a clean record, atleast until they break the law with the new license, and thats if the police are even going to bother to file the paperwork. Suddenly being an illegal is almost more enticing than being a citizen

That's a bit weird, surely they'd be treated in a similar way as a foreigner on holiday?

Only a fucking ignoramus like you could seek to blame this situation on the poor desperate bastards with no employment rights who have to support themselves on a below-minimum wage, rather than the ruthless exploitative twats who hire them on derisory wages in the first place.

You seem to be operating on the assumption that employers who violate wage laws are immune from any sort of sanction for doing so.
Actually everyone here seems to be operating on the assumption that illegal immigrants are always mistreated. This isn't really the case. Whitey isn't avoiding agriculture jobs (for example) because every farmer refuses to conform to labor laws, Whitey is avoiding those jobs because they involve
hard manual labor and whitey don't play that shit.

They are. He's either mistaken, bullshitting, was bullshitted, or lives in a stupid state.

Wrong,
Illegals are taking jobs that Americans can't take and still be able to support their family due to wages being driven down so far.
Illegals often pool their earnings from low wage jobs while living together in a single residence home, most of their money being sent back to their country of origin. All the while health care, education and medical expenses are paid for by our tax dollars.
..and even if you were right, the low skilled migrant takes jobs from low skilled Americans which are most often minorities. Look up some data on the effect of illegal immigration on say house ownership or economic growth of black Americans for example.
For every illegal we subsidize above the poverty line we help create an American below the poverty line. How is this any less tragic? We Americans have always been generous, but how long can we keep this up? And at what cost?
This is a complex situation, it's not nearly as simple as so many of you seem to suggest.

Aren't health care and medical expenses the same thing? And how much do people in the US really pay for healthcare - private and public? I recall BrokenArts not being able to afford some scan or other. Don't you pay for most of it through insurance?
