White contractors hire cheap illegal Latino labor so they can underbid the legal competition. Free trade/supply and demand works as long as everyone follows the rules. To bad the rules are ignored.
For example - California has very high workers compensation liability rates. When a roofing contractor cheats on paying workers comp they are saving 50 cents on every dollar made. Kinda hard to be an honest contractor and bid against the cheaters and labor exploiters.
So what do we do? import more cheap illegal labor and drive wages down to third world rates. Couple years later we see MALDEF activists demanding a "living wage" for the working poor. Funny how that works eh.
EXACTLY. When I was in my early 20's I owned and operated a small outfit that refinished marble floors in Little Rock. We simply couldn't compete with the companies that hired illegal immigrants because they didn't have to pay comp fees, matching taxes, or provide insurance over a certain number of employees. I eventually sold the business at a loss because of it.
I think some of the hate come from the fact that while illegals benefit from many government funded perks of American society, they are off the grid as far as income tax and therefore not paying into the system like legal citizens. It's a bit like tax evasion, no? I guess it could be argued that they get so shafted at the time clock anyway that they wouldn't be paying in much to begin with, but if you're the kind of person for whom it's the principal of thing, it's a little irritating.
Also, Starry's right.

I understand that gw does exist, I just speculate as to whether we can do anything to stop it, and based on the number of liberals I see crusing around in 34 cylinder suv's, I'm tempted to claim you guys are a bunch of power-hungry douchbags trying to control american idiots
Though entirely off topic, this is possibly the first time I've agreed with you. (/cue slavering hippy/Al Gore yogurt pooping "u hate muther eart" rhetoric)

umm, duh because it's obvious...anyone trying to deny this fact is seriously part of the cult, you guys decide to make a big ta-do over Katrina that is supposed to squeltch republicans' point of view regarding global warming and put it to rest, but then two years later you have a country who hasn't experienced a single hurricane almost 3/4 the way through hurricane season and the media shuts their stupid hole about global warming and focuses on Iraq, and the the american population just follows along like lemmings in formation, it's pretty sickening to watch, even when your own family is so god-damn stupid that they believe the media like the word of god...shame on you deceptive serpents

Says Thief13x as he dutifully toes the party line.
Thief13x on 28/10/2007 at 17:28
better to toe than to foot biotches, I don't belong to any political party quite frankly, it's all a bunch of power-hungry control freaks, if you want me you can come find me in the garden god damnit looking in a green direction and spotting those who look the same but walk the other way trying to dictate their ways on idiots, ya know, gore has a degree in government, ha, I could hardly comprehend intro to aviation meteorology, there's a lot more to it than high and low pressure systems, unless you're government official, then the only obstical you have to overcome are those who have an eye for truth.

I would have thought someone so free from control wouldn't let their day be ruined in such a predictable way by something that doesn't affect them personally in the slightest.

Tell me honest, Thief13x... You're drunk and have Certain Conservative Websites open in another window, yes?

Ten points to Starr for the diagnosis. Being from Florida only accounts for so much.
