I found this bastard behind the toilet this morning. I near missed my aim.
Inline Image:
http://files.myopera.com/jim91/albums/476953/WTF.jpgIt's about seven inches from front to back. And the fangs on that monster!..I didn't want to batter it to death, but it died anyway. So I kept in a bowl to examine it later after school.
I live in vancouver and spiders just don't get this big. I think I've seen smaller ones similar to this, but this has got to be a different kind of species. The closest to it is something called a harvestman but still..nothing this big. This thing is massive. Like its been evolving/mutating from an easy life down the drain and in the house. How do you sleep at night knowing these brutes are stalking about our homes.

Global warming.

Heya thanks for that bit of research :thumb:
I think it might well be a harvestman. It's not even a spider being that it is related to centipedes, ticks, mites and scorpions. It's body consists of one part as opposed to two. Instead of eight eyes, it only has two. I checked it out with a magnifying glass and its' got some wicked fangs. Also it has left a strange odour on my hands..and a couple of legs have fallen off.
Apparently it does not bite humans. Still it's a creepy looking bastard and way too big to be normal. And thinking there might be more makes this night of researching spiders all that more exciting. I hope I wake up tommorrow without some spectacular body rash and swollen parts.

It is a Daddy Long Legs, which is a Harvestman, and they are totally non-threatening to humans.
We used to play with them as kids, letting them crawl all up and down our arms.
And yes, they get that bis and more.
Just be glad you don't live in Oklahoma. I used to find Tarantulas in my back yard.

/.../ seven inches /.../
That told me exactly - nothing ... would like some ff extension that would automatically translate such crap to some human readable form ... or something.
Anyway - where i live there are tons of thous freaks ... no idea how they compare size-wise tho...

I don't get you...ff extension? What is that? I'm just saying it was one big mother of a spider. Seven inches for a spider is big, even if it's measured from the end of one ridiculously disproportioned leg to the other.

Where I live spiders don't grow this big. It actually has prevented me from having a full nights sleep the past nights and I have now a compulsive need to completely search my bedroom/bathroom. Where you live I'd likely have a few more phobias then I do now.

It's 17.78cm. You do have the internet, right? And you've figured out how to make it do useful things?
