It happened again, only this time the teacher is actually attractive... - by AxTng1

Yeah, it seems like alot of old lady style huffing and puffing, "Wont someone please think of the children!". Think about how many 'children' are uninsured in america? Think about how many children have slipped into poverty in america?
I see the point of these laws, you have to have some guideline at some point, but I find it hard to be outraged about this. Its hard to say how big of a deal to make out of these things, concidering probably that 10x more children at the age of 10 or less get raped every year as young boys score with hot teacher/teachers aid.
God, if a older man fucked a young girl though and everyone found out about it, they would fucking hang and/or burn him at the stake.

Yeah, age of consent is bullshit (please don't hurt me, RBJ). I'm not saying I don't understand the idea, but you get into these ridiculous arbitrary cases of "OMG A 16 YEAR OLD HAD SEX WITH A 19 YEAR OLD!". Admittedly, these cases are rarely prosecuted, but I for one believe the law should be equally enforced, otherwise you're letting the enforcer exercise prejudices (let's arrest the black guy! etc.). Unfortunately ageofconsent.com seems to be down, so I can't provide any real examples - suffice it to say that I'm fresh out of high school (hell, technically speaking I'm still IN high school), and I feel that so many adults forget that just because so many high schoolers are rebellious and immature, it doesn't mean their stupid, and I've known a fair amount of them that are just as 'mature' as any 25-year-old I've known.
Frankly, if you are responsible enough to drive a car - which, as far as I'm concerned, is just a killing machine waiting to happen - you're responsible enough to choose your sexual partners.
The real intelligence issue isn't "is this person a few years older than me" it's "Am I using birth control?".

Don't look for complicated answers; they're just perverts.
I am ashamed of you, StD - and I mean it. I'd have expected you of all people to not see the criminal system in black-and-white terms. What the fuck is this? They're 'perverts'? Exactly how is being sexually attracted to people of child-bearing age anything other than natural?

Just because all teens mature differently we need guidelines, it's up to the parents but there should be someone watching over it. A 15 year old with a 30 year old, well it could work strictly from a physical point of view, but the 30 year old would be more refined and experienced in getting what he/she wants, even when the 15 year old agrees to have sex, it would still be abuse because the 15 year old can't really understand what he/she is doing.

Okay, since this seems to be a growing discussion of ethics, I guess it's about time someone of this age actually says something in a serious matter. (GASP) Really, it should be a mixed matter, the teacher should be responsible enough not to screw a student. But, also around this age, I must say it is to some degree the kid should know what they are getting themselves into.

Really, at this point in time, kids (Including myself) know the difference at least to some degree of what would happen if someone vastly older then you desires sex (At least that's what I like to think). You can't just label the teacher pervert, and you can't just label the kid "Innocent victim". (This is assuming of course the kid is at least 14 or 15, any lower, I'd have to say you really wouldn't know what your getting into) Now, I don't know how it is when you guys were kids, but times are different. As said before, this is not a black and white right versus wrong sort of situation.

You cant be called an adult until you learn the difference between curly brackets {} and parenthesis ()

Could you elaborate on that a bit - I'm not sure in what ways the times being different would have much impact on the consequences of adult/child sex. But then again, I'm an old guy.

Not sure what you mean here either..

You're right, I should have put in more detail as what I was saying Fett, let me be a little clearer.
Regarding "times are different" I mean, well, I don't think there were many teachers having sex with students. As well as school lessons are generally becoming more advanced ( Or so my parents say) and you can't make a judgment by comparing it to when you were a kid.
Second, by "Black and white right versus wrong sort of situation" I meant you can't just look at it and write it off as either "Well, the teacher is just a perverted rapist." Nor can you say "It's the kids fault for being irresponsible!" It is probably different in each situation and there is usually fault on both sides at least to some degree.

On the whole 'attracted to a girl of child-bearing age' I'll regurgitate Uncle Stitch's schooling which holds true ... or I would, if my search skills didn't fail me so. :(

Please someone think of the Children...
No, REALLY think of the Children
No matter how well-intentioned "Statutory" laws may be, they still seem like "you are inferior and stupid and cannot think for yourself, we will decide what is right for you"
I do not think ageism is taken seriously enough because by the time people get old enough to do anything about it they do not care. WELL DUH. This applies to the whole gamut of controversial issues from sex (which regrettably does not affect me) to video game sales (which does)
No doubt I will grow out of thinking this way :erg:
