I've been searching the forum but didn't find any sollution for my problem anywhere, here it goes:
I have installed the game, run it on one cpu core, no problem.
I have no problem getting to the menu and start the game. Here the problems start:
Garret moves but it's like he moves kind of choppy and after a while I can't move him at all, then suddenly he starts moving for a few seconds but his moement is never smooth. the game itself seems to have no problem running but the garrets moves feels choppy and messed up and he freezes from time to time.. hard to explain but I hope someone can help me 'cause I love this game..
I get thief gold to run smoothly, haven't tried thief 2 yet.
some info on my system:
Acer aspire 1641
windows xp proffesional SP3
intel dual core E4700 2,6GHz
3072 Ram
ATI radeon hd3400
driver version: 8.702.0.0

Have you watched him from the third-person view? I remember a glitch where Garrett would just float around, completely disregarding the laws of physics. This was usually triggered by mantling things we aren't supposed to.
It was fraggin' hilarious.

The glitch I'm referring to happens at 1:03.

well my situation is a little different.. It's more like at first garret moves choppy, looks like it's some trouble with the frame-rate or something. then he gets stuck but I can still look around freely, just not move. then sometimes he can move again for short periods of time..

Try toggling V-sync (in the game and maybe your video driver configuration) and make sure every executable is set to one core; I'm not entirely sure now but AFAIK there are at least two.

joelsilfver: You can use (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127533) that small and simple utility to fix CPU affinity issue. In case if it won't help, try to switch Vertical Synchronization (VSync) on/off in your graphics card settings, as
Beleg Cúthalion recommended.

Turn off any CPU frequency management (throttling, Cool'n'Quiet, etc). Usually, it's enough to choose power profile named 'Maximum Performance', 'Always On' or 'Presentation'.

I've tried all that,
I turned off v-sync in the game, couldn't fint any settings for it in the catalyst control center.
the only ones found there are:
anti-aliasing, adaptive anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering, catalyst AI and mipmap detail level
all these are set to "use application settings, except catalyst ai, which I tried to turn off. nothing helps.. I disabled the second cpu for the processes I think thief uses.
still the same problem with jerky/choppy moves and then from time to time get stuck...
any Ideas?
thanks so far anyway..

Note: do NOT watch this video while brushing your teeth. I nearly sprayed my monitor with projectile toothpaste at the widow Moira's feature, and then the 1:03 floaty incident was even worse...

I decided to make a video to show my problem, no sound though.. here it is:

hope this makes it a little clearer..
thanks.

Ok... What about changing in-game screen resolution?
