Ok, there is this dude who sells "Ash Statues" or something and he is standing next to Aengoth the Jeweler. When you buy a statue and then get the option to ask him about it he attacks you. Of course I killed with passion, (eye twitchy) Is he important to the game? Does his cool looking statues have any significane?

Ash Statues crop up more than a little during the main quest (and some side quests) Whether this guy is a part of one of those side quests, I'm not sure. But he's not connected to the main quest and you won't screw up anything major by killing him.

Just out of interest, who is this guy and where is he found? I remember the name Aengoth-was it somewhere in Ald'Ruhn?

Aengot the Jeweller is the thieves' guild quest giver in Ald'ruhn; he is downstairs in the dodgy pub (I think it's called The Rat in the Pot, yum!) near the Mages' and the Fighters' Guilds.
He appears to be related to your beloved Fargoth.

The Ash Statue guy is part of a Redoran quest as I recall. I believe that killing him is the solution to that quest, so you should be all right.

To finish my question, do the Ash Statues serve any purpose at this point besides looking nifty (reds eyes glowing chewing on toes) Anything to do with the Vampies or the (red eyes, horns and pointy ears guys who annoy me)?

They serve no purpose at this point. I think theres a side quest where you have to get a crate load of them from a sunken ship for someone and another quest in Ald-ruhn involves a specific Ash Statue (might be the Redoran quest madphilb reffered to), but other than that, they are just decoration.
