We all surely know the unique bow visor design from Thief 1 & 2. I guess many of you, me included, fire the bow solely from a gut feeling build up over the years of playing the Thief games.
But just for fun I wonder if you have a perfect rule of thumb for using the bow visor that always guarantees a (upper body) hit with a broadhead regardless of distance? The visor has remarkable features (width, length, overall length of the lower part et cetera). For instance - at which distance do I know I have to aim higher so the whole visor has to be above the selected target? Can I measure it somehow using the visor features? At which distance I use the upper part or the lower part?

It's actually called a sight, at least in English. Not sure if different languages might call it something else.
I'm not sure what you're really going for here, but I'll say the only time I've ever really counted on the sight was when I did the TG Iron event last year, specifically at the beast portal in the Maw. I knew that if I was directly across from the portal, that I needed to aim my fire/gas arrows at the top of the sight, and the water/moss arrows at the bottom of the sight, to actually hit the relevant spots on the portal. Once I figured out the exact spot to aim using the sight, it was a guaranteed hit every single time. So i think the sight is more for making consistent shots than what you're talking about.

"Bow visor" sounds like some kind of Star Wars energy weapon.

Often enough I try to aim from high distances , while using the quick save function to get the hot spot of hitting.
