Hi all
Just got back from working away for a year and am playing through the best game ever created again.
Just wondered if the above project is now dead, did a forum search but couldn't find a straight answer.
Their message board seems to have been abandoned since late last year
Anyway...good to be back on SS2 and TTLG :-) :D

Does yes relate to the thread title or the question in his post? ;)
But to my knowledge it is still alive and kicking.

Boy, I can't wait. The new goo texture ZylonBane introduced a while ago looked fan-tas-tic!
Talking about SHTUP - does anyone have a clue how long it takes to redo one of the textures? Ehm, I suppose it's difficult to say, considering some are more, some less complex. But still - is there an estimation on how long it takes to redo an average one?
A technical layperson such as me would like to have at least a vague idea of how much work has gone into SHTUP already. Anyone savvy on that kind of stuff?

Back when SHTUP first started, my target was one texture every day. However, now that all the really easy textures have long since been upgraded, that goal is well beyond my meagre artistic talents. Actually I haven't touched SHTUP in a couple months now, due to general holidays/winter/sick blahs stuff. But I do intend to get back to it soon. Some of the updated models and textures people have contributed are simply too good to sit on much longer!

Wow, that's great to hear!
Being only a lawyer, I unfortunately am totally unable to contribute anything artistic.
On the other hand, I can fully appreciate the nitpicking that has gone into adhering to the original concepts:cheeky:
It's the greatest mod! Thank you for all the effort taken so far.

The artistry has been done by the original team. SHTUP is asking more for accuracy I think.
What's you area of expertise as a lawyer? I'm curious.

Oh, I'm in antitrust/M&A. Currently, however, doing some more academic work back at the University (otherwise, there'd be no time for games...)
I loved playing System Shock 2 back when I was still studying law.
Now, SHTUP is enabling me to relive those splendid days on a higher aesthetic level. Too bad I'll be back at work by the time Bioshock comes out. But, ah, who knows whether it'll live up to its "spiritual predecessor", anyway.
Nothing like a little escapism at night, single-handedly un-monopolizing those two spaceships again;)

I just started playing SS2 for the first time this past month; I have played Thief for years but never had an opportunity to play SS2 until I spotted it on a friend's shelf while helping him pack! I would be very interested to download the new patch when it comes out - I'll be subscribing to this thread :D
