I can't remember the lost child's name off the top of my head, however, I think I'm too late to save her. Or, am I? Is there a time limit? If not, then I should have been able to rescue her any time during the game ... right?

Yeah, you can do the quest any time you want, but once you see the cultists at the serpent pillar then the time limit starts. Also, if the cultists detect you while you follow them to the secret room, they'll kill the girl. :(
:edit: Ah, Shany! That's the name... (couldn't think of it either for a mo...)

Yes, I did see the cultists, so, she's dead. Sad day.

I stumbled across the serpent pillar without realizing what it was after starting this quest (duh) and went off on another adventure. I re-entered that level later on and heard her cry out for her mother to help her. I went down to the pillar again and met the three dudes coming back and had a fight. So I reloaded and tried to make it to the pillar before they killed her. No luck. Any way to get there in time to save her? I have no saved games from before I set off the pillar.

i originally did the same thing you did - unfortunately i had no save games either & didn't do this quest until playing through a 2nd time - hiding & following until the cultists make their way to the sacrifice room & then i charged in up to shany and had to take them all out quickly - a bit difficult to get between all of them & her, but it works :)
if you're only up to the point where you "set off the pillar" - you should be all set - just wait until they're all in the altar room - then barge in and kill!

Sorry for bumping up an old thread. I was just wondering what it is you get if you do save her?

Isnt the fact that you saved a childs life enough? Geez...lol Actually you get whatevers on the cultists as wells as any one item for free from her moms shop when you go there.
