I've seen the "preview edition" a few times, it is commonly found in racks of jewel case games. On the back they mention in fine print that it's only the first 5 or so missions from the game. This strategy was a standard in the good old shareware days.

Who is the company I can contact to try to get it replaced?

There were two companies involved in Deus Ex; Ion Storm and Eidos. Ion Storm died, so my best guess would be to try harassing Eidos about this. It's very likely they won't replace it though.

the "preview edition" has the missions up to where jc fights his way out of headquarters and the chopper pilot takes him to china. So far I have really enjoyed the game. I have never seen a "preview addition" of a game before, basically halfway between the whole game and a demo.
This happens all the time, from the olden days of shareware up into games like Painkiller in the present
The reason why you don't see them often is because usually their OEM (hardware or computer) bundled and not for resale

I got suckered into buying the preview version, too, though I never played through to see where it ended. Once I found out it wasn't going to get to finish the game I stopped playing.

You haven't played Deus Ex?
UNCLEAN!!!

If you are referring to TNT, or mini-TNT :p, then I'm pretty sure she's played Deus Ex in its entirety since she has a melee only walkthrough on her site.

If he was referring to me, he just supplied my laugh of the day. :D But I'm sure he's not that stupid . . .

He frequently jumps to conclusions. Given that failing, his track record isn't all that bad.

Unlike your many cyber-stalkers, I don't keep a notepad handy of all the games you've played.
