Just found out I had been mislead into buying the preview version. Only paid a total of $3.50 so I won't fight it. How many missions do you get in the full game? Is the preview about half the lenth?

Preview version? Didn't know one existed...:erg:
And - Deus Ex - or - Deus Ex: Invisible War?
Further to that, how far does it go (in story terms: what's the last main objective you complete in the Preview)?
Also, have you enjoyed however much of it you've played?
In general though, yes it's worth getting the full thing, and you can get it on DVD for about £5 around here, so in $ I doubt it'd be that much, especially if there's an option to upgrade from the preview version.
(DX:IW is about £10 here currently normally, but cheaper depending on January Sales or other offers, just in case that's the one you mean)

Yes, it's worth getting. I usually see it here for about €5, and Invisible War for the same price (Thief DS too).
If visualwalkthroughs.com is anything to go by (don't go there yet though, there's spoilers all over the place), about 17 missions. Some of those are huge hub areas though, so there may be more (or less, if you count retreads of levels with significant alterations as one with the original). It depends on your definition.
Really though, just get it. It's awesome.

Preview version? Was it something you downloaded? You know, in some cases, the full game file set is already there and the files in /system are all that's stopping you. :P

is the full game worth it?
No, it's not worth it. Deus Ex sucks. Totally forgettable game. That's why it won over a dozen Game of the Year awards and people are still talking about it six years later.

the "preview edition" has the missions up to where jc fights his way out of headquarters and the chopper pilot takes him to china. So far I have really enjoyed the game. I have never seen a "preview addition" of a game before, basically halfway between the whole game and a demo.

Continue. If you liked the game so far, you'll definitely enjoy the next few levels.

Well, I think (it's been a while) that the start of the Hong Kong section is about 1/3rd of the way through the game, so there's still quite a bit for you to do yet :D

I aint never heaard of no preview edition before.
But, I've replayed Deux Ex a bunch of times over the years and IMO the game doesn't really start until you get to where it sounds like that edition ended. Everything before that is just warmup. :)
Cheers,
