My favorite comedy movies of all time - they could make 20 of these and I'd still go see them. Something about Nielson makes him very unfunny unless he's doing his Police Squad shtick.
I believe that something he needs to be funny is called "good writing".

Surely you can't be serious?

As long as it's funnier than Jane Austen's: Mafia!, I'll probably see it.

Yeah, it'll be sad without OJ.
That said, if this is really going to happen...I haven't been this hyped for a film since...I dunno, The Life Aquatic? Except this is more so. I grew up with Naked Gun; the original is a CLASSIC, and the second one is better than one would expect for a quick sequel. 33 1/3 isn't so hot, though it has its moments.
This sounds really awesome. Austin Powers had its moments, but there hasn't been a truly great spoof film since the original Naked Gun (though there have been some good mockumentaries, such as The Specials). Really excited about this.
Also, I've never heard of Sledge Hammer. I am totally tracking that down.

Heh, Sledge Hammer was like the greatest show ever when I was 10. Then again I also thought that the Cannonball Run and Smokey and the Bandit movies were cinematic masterpieces. Watching clips from Sledge Hammer on YouTube a few weeks ago I can tell the passing of time and the maturing of henke has not been kind on ol' Sledgy. Still, it hits (

Hopefully I can still enjoy a new Naked Gun.

Edgar Wright's Spaced-gang and Judd Apatow's Jew-Tang Clan have made some great spoof movies in recent years. Check out Shaun of the Dead and Walk Hard.

Having said all that, I initially thought this thread was a joke.

Thanks for posting this, Scots. The thought of them actually making a film such as this fills me with urges I've never quite felt before. Yes--I'm off to hang myself, right-fucking-now.
First movie I ever saw in an actual theater was Smokey and the Bandit (saw Star Wars at a drive-in), and I turned out all right.

I can only imagine a missing OJ would be a comedy opportunity. I sense a running gag in it already. I mean, who hasn't been wondering what the Naked Gun joke on OJ is going to be after all these years?

Count me in as another aficionado of the Police Squad. I am looking forward to this mightily, if it happens.

Just backing up my man henke, Frost-Pegg-Wright's work on Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are among the best parodies on record period.
