After like... 30 retries, stopping all the time by the time I get to Caius Cosades' Vivec order [only 45 minutes into the game :p], I finally managed to stomp through to level 20 and made it as far as El Velothir[sp?] while working for the Fighter's Guild and the Imperial Legion. I currently have too much time on my hands so I spent two whole days wacking through the west coast and I realized I had not even gone back to Cosades for the Vivec order. By this time, I found myself seriously going out of control as despite feeling tired and cranky, I pushed on to find the next Dwemer ruins or Ancestral tomb. I don't like to use Striders as they only prevent you from levelling up efficiently.
Ah and there I go again going off-topic. Morrowind is amazing but I'm sad to say that my persistance and impatieness combined does not necessarily make my experience tolerable and playing on the Xbox means I spend a good 1/4 of the game waiting for the game to load everytime I decide to go gung-ho on a Golden Saint and get my ass pounded. For now, I have ceased gameplay and deleted my beloved saved games because it's making me spend far too much time in front of the television at one go.
I need to know from you folks, approximately how long does it take for one to finish the game WITHOUT venturing very deep into the Guild quests? I don't like exploring too much on my first try as each time I play a new game, I prefer to breeze through it as fast as I can to get a "feel" of it. It's like... an introduction. Finish the game quickly, see the ending then come back experienced in the gameplay and do as much as you can to feel the "full" effects. As I've said, Morrowind has gone on too long and I wasn't at all prepared.
Thanks.

Well, you can pretty much run through it if you want to.
And since you're level 20, you can probably kick the shit out of everything the game throws at you now.

At the risk of sounding ZylonBanesque, how in the hell did you
not know what a monstrously expansive game TES3 was?
NXMT on 12/3/2005 at 18:38
How could I? Other than my most recent attempt at the game, the most I have spent on it is 45 minutes. Surely even you yourself have to agree with me when I say there is no other game that has achieved something as big as the Elder Scrolls III?

Morrowind is huge. But! I have always power-levelled. I know, I know. Shame on me. So I could have beaten the game in roughly... Oh, 20 hours? That's including the time it takes me to steal loot, level-up, then do all the tediousness. I could probably cut it down to 10 hours by taking the 'shortcut' :thumb:
Short Cut!
You can skip more than half of the main quest by going directly to the... uh... Shrine. To get your ring. Look, you'll know what I mean once you get there. And for what it's worth, I lost the bloody thing anyway. Not exactly hero-like of me. A proper hero doesn't say, "Oh, here, let me put my precious ring that no one else could wear down for a second- Oooh crap." It was an accident, I swear.
Umm, because virtually every preview, review, afterview, article, and ad concerning the game placed a heavy focus on the sheer size of the thing? I have to concede that it's just about possible you managed to avoid all material relating to the game before you bought it, and that you loaded it up without a second glance at the back of the box, which also trumpets the magnitude of Morrowind.

Well, Arena and Daggerfall were hardly tiny...
Arondil on 12/3/2005 at 20:39
Not having yet played Arena, but Morrowind in terms of scale is as SD says is pretty small on scale (albeit with a lot more detail).
If you follow just the main quest, you'll miss out on most of what Morrowind has to offer (it makes up more of the game than its direct predecessor - the main quest that is). However, because the game seems to assume you'll be doing more than just that, I think the main quest on its own would be impossible - you'll need to be more expereinced to defeat some of the important opponents.

Hey hey, give him a break SD. It's hard to underestimate things. I never thought Morrowind would be that big either, mostly because I hadn't played Arena or Daggerfall. People are allowed to be in awe here :thumb:
Tell you what, NXMT. Once you install new textures, meshes, monsters, NPCs, and various face packs (and the Better Bodies mod), Morrowind is even better. Oh, and get mods that add more foliage too, if your computer can handle it. Everything looks superb.

Ok mate whatever eh? Now how bout' telling me how long you think it takes to complete if someone rushes through the game like RyushiBlade? :) I'm not here to discuss how blind I can be.
