Those ugly indian headband things... no, I was thinking more like the stuff you see queens and princess's wear.

This is classic character development in an adventure story. Even the Luke Skywalker character evolves in this way. So, this is one appropriate approach to structuring the rules for a fantasy role playing game.
Mm, good post aardvark. Character development in a CRPG like MORRAWHIND could do with a fresher approach I reckon though. I'm sort of for shifting the acquisition of survival and combat skills from numbers onto the player. It's far more interesting and immersive that way. Thief is a good example - remember how appalling one was playing the game in Lord Baffords the very first time? ;)
The innovation of realistic 3d environs with a first person view is more important than most people realise I reckon - it really does entail a "virtual life" that is qualitively different from isometric/2d type games, which can much more easily be fitted into the "adventure story" mold.

I look forward to the day when folks accept that games like Thief: The Dark Project are actually rpg's! :) Man, that game was sooooo ahead of its time, and in so many ways. Damn right. :D

No idea how to make a new model, but I wouldn't be surprised if the construction kit's docs don't mention that. (I'm at work still)

My brother was gonna make a mod with new creatures, but he said he needed some kind of expensive graphics program to draw them. I think it was 3D Studio Max.

"Hey - you know what, we should REALLY piss this guy off... Hmmm, but how to do it? Yeah why not just leave the dragons out? -Hey yeah that would be cool... no dragons! Hey - and what more, no dragons - if we call the dungeons caverns and so... I guess nobody will think we got any fantasy inspiration from that D&D game everybodys rambling on about!"
See, Exodus understands.
I'm really not going to tell you that I love RPGs... I've said that before(on this thread to)
I'm really not going to tell you that I liked MW.... I've said that before(on this thread to)
I will, however, tell you what I didn't like about this game. In fact, I have. Naturally I spend X amount of time defending myself from attacks, especially on whether or not I like the game! I have to argue with other people whether or not I liked MY game... Heh..
But anyway, on to more interesting concerns:
Aardvark, while it's too late to fully understand your post, I agree. Said Frodo did not advance in his little adventure by selling his mithril chain suit, then pay someone to train him. No, he went in, did something incredibly stupid, ran about some, did more stupid things, and then he got tough... Excitement...
In MW, the edge is given to the tedious(unfortunately this is true in most games! I just came from another leveling session in EQ... FG = the boring :( )
This leveling system would have been better, had it been based upon experience. Kill X mob and get some amount of experience. Do X quest, get some experience. Naturally they could extend it further, IE: go to zone X, get some experience... but anyway...
I'll only allot a few sentances of your reading time to Muttenhead...
I've joined most of the factions, the rest I wiped out...
I've played other characters. It's the same thing really... It seems like you're trying too hard to enjoy the game. I liked to relax and set in an invigorating quest, deep and interesting. Unfortunately, MW doesn't have that(which I've elobrated around here...) Again, I liked the game, and I don't think you can argue with me about whether I like it or not..
If this is what RL was like, Real life would suck =\
Oh, yes, I hate RPGs... That's why I've played so many for so long... ffs, I can't even begin to explain how ignorant that is.
As for Tuco being in love. Tuco gets a whore then dumps her, it's simple. As soon as I find that underwater city... maybe there's a dragon... Mmm....
Err, yes.
Plz dragons.
