No one is offended, this is a simple post to discuss ones opinions of the game, naturally it turn into people trying to flame me, but whatever...
Tuco's Final Thought:
Perhaps if they alloted more time to make each and every experience unique, MW Would have had the depth it promised.(Albiet, we wouldn't be talking about how it was, but rather, how it will be =\)
Perhaps if they made a leveling scheme reminiscent of other RPGs(IE, experience based instead of skill based), it would balance the game a lot... probably wouldn't take a great deal of time either(to have made a different leveling scheme)
Perhaps if the game's combat system wasn't so unbalanced (Towards the melee side), the game wouldn't have been repititive in the end. Naturally, it's not a combat oriented game, but there WAS a lot of monsters to kill, and in the beginning combat was difficult enough to be fun.
Perhaps if it had dragons...

Personally, I think the skill based leveling is pretty cool, it's just that leveling is way to as you start getting into the game. With trainers, you can pretty much BUY levels, which really defeats any sense of achievemet.

Point. goo or bad:
- BG 2 had a lot more of extra literature, and a lot of it seemed not to do wih much other than radom backround element, read like2 of them, I like the MW books, so far none have been to long,u BG2 I still like better slightly right no, but as I get better wth TES Editor that will probably change.
- The Fines and Comensaton systm made it TOO easy to commit crime, fines should't be for murder, maybe even trial would be cool (if you wanted you ould just run and slice the hury and run away) and maybe you shold spnd you time in jail actually in a cell, that oul olve all sorts of quests nd npcs... like questto break someone ut of jail, you could eher case a ruckus killing gaurds o kill a civilian go to jail and work your ay from the inside, coud of been interesting. The Judicial sstem couve een really cool
- I'd love to see npc's reactwit each other, like evertime hey bump into each other hey get mad, once they ge really mad they do something, like one npc could sap and o on a npc kiling spree and you can wach as the gaurds stomp them.... and maybe more threats to compleing the mai quest than you illig plo charachters, maye timedassasinations,so yo must make certain places quickbefore us are cleaned up or fid ad kill the assasis at hand.
- Leveling is great... but they need amore varit f items and balance how you acqire them..., thei should be cool lookiweak armor...

Vigo, the reason the leveling is bad, is because the only real way to award the adventurer with 'experience' is to up his skill levels, and bleh..
If you're not constantly doing stuff, either alchemy or nose to nose combat, you'll be leveling quite slow (IE: stopping and smelling the flowers, or talking to npc's/doing crappy quests)
If they initiated a more classic approach, they could award experience for doing such non-epic/uncombatic actions...
And the trainer bit =)

Yup, but the way I read Tuco's post it seemed to imply that "stopping and smelling the flowers, or talking to npc's/doing crappy quests" would make you level slowly; I was simply stating that talking to npc's lets you level pretty quickly if it meshes with your major/minor skills.

I guess you're right, if you run about town clicking admire, yes, you will level up. However, perhaps I was a little non-descript, I meant that if you read all their jargon, rather than initiate any skills, you would not level up fast.
I think you'll agree with me, Forsythe, that the leveling system, because it's dependent on skill progression, gives the lead to those who are more willing to break down and do repititive(someone correct this word's spelling) actions... IE: going around, talking to NPCs, and admiring them.
BTW, tell me if you find anything 'interesting' in the average hobo's talking... IE: my soon to be wife, and the secret underwater city she's supposed to tell me about.

Why are there two more posts from Tuco after his so-called "final thought"? This thread should be removed; its tiresome to see it pop up at the top of the forum over and over.
Tuco on 15/6/2002 at 18:17
I suppose 'final thought' was my 'generalization of the faults of MW'
But I'll still respond to any questions and critizisms of my 'thoughts'...
btw, I think this thread is a helpful source of information.
