Whilst visiting Sadrith Mora (and several other places) I stumbled upon numerous slaves from the beast races (Argonians and Khajiit). Since I personally dislike slavery (AND my char is an Argonian) I would like to attempt to free these slaves as well as those poor chaps in the dungeons.
The slaves from the dungeons one can free easily, usually I find 1-2 keys within the dungeon - but how do I free the slaves in the official market - or the ones in the Gateway Inn - or those in remote farms? Is it even possible?
(and - will it change something in the game?)

...or the 'cattle' slaves vampires have in their HQs...
I'm not sure to be honest but it's going to be a long hard trek to 'free' everyone. In regards to the slave market in sadrith mora I'm not sure whether you can actually open the doors on the cells; but then again I haven't tried so I could be wrong.

You CAN open the cell doors simply by "activating" them as normal doors BUT since You don't have the keys for the slave bracelets You can't free them. The slaves answer on Your "go free" with "There is no hope for us", the same goes with the slaves in the aforementioned Gateway Inn or in several remote farms. Well, I don't give in that easily, to be sure!
Hopefully there IS a way, since sooner or later YOU are THE hero(ine) of whole Morrowind and who would be better to make some reforms regarding slavery?

The slaves in Tel aruhn can be bought for 1k each and then told to go free (since you own them) but up till then no other slave dealer (mostly telvani I'l admit and they dont like me much) would offer slaves to me

You can buy slaves?!
I'm not greatly experienced as you can tell but what exactly would be the purpose of having a slave other than rescuing them?
Do they follow you around holding your 'stuff' or what?

You need a specific slave for the main quest (one of those in Tel Aruhn) as a gift.

I heard You can equip Your "slave companion" with a shield and a weapon and mayhaps even with some armour (since You can equip the slave for the aforementioned quest with exquisite clothes) and they will fight for You. BUT they aren't experienced fighters...

(and - will it change something in the game?) Many, many slaves simply can't be freed; there's no dialogue option for the "wow, thanks for freeing me" response condition. Irritates me as well, but makes a small amount of sense... for example, in Sadrith Mora, wouldn't escaping slaves (with a wide mark on the wrist where the bracer had been) stand out like a sore thumb?
As to whether or not it'll change anything, a couple NPCs will have extra dialogue and/or missions; also, (in four very specific cases) when you lead slaves to freedom then you'll get a rep bonus for Twin Lamps members (who are very few and far between).
Edit: Fixed a typo

I'd still wonder if somebody would dare to stop THE hero of Morrowind going against slavery. Especially in Sadrith Mora, where (s)he is/may be Hortator of house Telvanni after some time and the council ain't exactly - able to speak up against it. By that time the character is a well known member of society an a rather important political factor within several guilds and cities and such as well.
It saddens me that there seems to be no other option, the "cattle" slaves within the vampire dungeons have NO hope of liberation either (there simply is NO key and the skeleton key does not work and You can't pick the lock since there is NO option - neither by spell nor mundane).
I wonder - can this be true? Should a hero be contempt with freeing those he easily can get the key for? :erg:
In my opinion this calls for another quest plugin - IF it is possible, that is. I for instance would feel better about it. It would have a real goal to strive for - though mayhaps not a lucrative one when it comes to money.

Hrm... should be easy enough for slaves; make a unique Misc item, and make a dialogue response to 'go free' only accessible to NPCs in the 'Slave' class that checks for the existence of this unique item in the player's inventory.
Cattle are another thing altogether, with different responses and the like; unless someone answers before I on this one, I'll look it up tonight.
(Oh, btw, the word's 'content' - very easy to mix 'em up)
Edit: Ok, took a gander at Cattle.. turns out they're just slaves with a facelift and a few extra dialogue options. The above should work for them too, but I'd suggest that making it so the respective vamp. head honcho be killed before they'll allow you to free 'em. Now I'm off to try out the below Twin Lamps plugin... oughta be fun :)
