Then use a quote so there's less confusion.
I don't need to use a quote when my reply is immediately posted after the post I'm replying to. And even if I were in fact replying to you, the tone you used was still uncalled for.

Phasers are set to ban, Admin.
It doesn't matter whether or not you willingly do SHODAN's work, either way her work is still done. It makes no difference whether it's willingly or unwillingly.

You mean he has no free will anymore? Gross.

If your actions are determined by your beliefs, but your beliefs are imprinted upon you by the society in which you live (murder is wrong, people deserve to be treated fairly, etc.), do you really have free will in the first place?

Here come the philosophy majors, back from their first semester of college...
I think that the character did Shodan's bidding because despite her rather anti-human tendencies, they shared the same goal, at least at that time. The character had no knowledge of the ship's capabilities or of Shodan's goals after the Many were killed, so he followed her orders to stay alive.
I think a better way to phrase Catbarf's post would be: "wittingly or unwittingly." I mean, Shodan did do alot to help the player, which could be misconstrued as a benign attitude, seeing as the character has a damaged memory.

Its something I've wondered. Sure she's concentrating on bending the FTL drive to do her dirty work, but it would've been nifty to see shodan loyal gumbies in addition to Goggles acting as her errend boy.
time and budget restraints, of course, precluded this from happening. Would've been real neat, ESPECIALLY for the final levels(shock1 enemies anyone?)

You mean other avatars who follow SHODAN? That would be cool.
Yeah, they were rushed. I much would have preferred the planned spacewalk instead of the BotM.
Some_twerp on 17/9/2007 at 08:36
I can't remember the details of that anymore-can you refresh my memories about the spacewalk?
catbarf on 22/9/2007 at 15:58
Say wut? I always remembered having read that originally it was supposed to be a spacewalk on the outside of the ship instead of BotM.
